The Chilbury Ladies' Choir

The Second World War didn't end secrets and backbiting gossip, keeping Jennifer Ryan's novel bracing and spicy rather than simply a sweet tale of kindness and selflessness and music . . .

Buy your copy at Much Ado and enjoy a free hand-decorated journal – and the opportunity to join a free discussion afternoon on Sunday 23 April!

We enjoyed this account of village life for its three-dimensional characters, whose tribulations and wartime privations are matched by the very human conflicts within the community.

The tale unfolds through letters and journal entries, so we were inspired to assemble hand-decorated mini notebooks for customers who buy the £12.99 hardback from us – a chance to add your own lists, note, jottings and perhaps a dose of vitriol, if you feel like it!

We're taking the opportunity to try out an informal discussion group format, which may grown into a more regular book group. Buy the book from us and you can join for free; or if you prefer, pay £5 to join the session. Doors open at 2:45 for a 3pm start in our barn, on Sunday 23 April. We'll enjoy light refeshments and discuss The Chilbury Ladies' Choir for an hour or so.

Reservations for the discussion group are essential, whether you are paying or if you have already purchased the book – e-mail us, stop by the shop or call on 01323 871222.
