Readers of all stripes are invited to test their mettle at our fund-raising Book Lovers Quiz and Cocktail Hour on Thursday 27 February.

Teams for 2 to 6 will compete for a lovely grand prize: Tea and scones generously offered by The Star, along with gift certificates to Much Ado.

We’ll gather at 6:30pm with a wide-ranging set of questions. Expect a sprinkling of quotes, perhaps some references to classics as well as modern best-sellers, and of course . . . Oh, no, sorry, no hints ahead of time!

We’ll be creating a quiz for anyone who enjoys reading; this will be an entertaining and enjoyable series of quiz questions, not a scholarly test, so we can all enjoy a relaxed time.

Funds we raise will go to the charity Little Green Pig. Based in Brighton, the group works with community groups and schools in the Brighton area, offering support and training to help young people enjoy the pleasures of writing. You can learn more about their work by clicking here.

Assemble a team of up to six people and come along to The Star Inn, Alfriston for a 6:30 start on Thursday 27 February. You can order cocktails at the bar, to prepare yourselves for the rigours.

We expect the quiz to end by 8pm.

Secure your place for £5 (you can pay for up to 6 at one time, if you like). We will run a guest list rather than issue tickets.
